Ingredients

  • 2pcs potato
  • 1pcs tomato
  • 10g smoky barbecue seasoning
  • 300g premium beef patties
  • 2pcs white bread rolls
  • 40ml burger sauce
  • 50g mixed salad leaves
  • 19ml olive oil
  • 30ml barbecue sauce

Method

  1. Step 1 — Prep ingredients
Preheat the oven to 220C, fan-forced. Line a large oven tray with baking paper. Cut the unpeeled potatoes into 1cm-thick fries. Thinly slice the tomato.
  2. Step 2 — Shake 'n' bake fries
Combine the barbecue seasoning and 1 tbs olive oil in a large bowl. Add the potato and shake the bowl until the potato is coated (see Kitchen hack). Put the potato on the lined tray and bake on the upper oven shelf, turning halfway, for 30 mins or until golden.
  3. Step 3 — Cook beef patties
Meanwhile, combine 2 tbs barbecue sauce and 1 tbs water in a bowl. Heat 1 tsp olive oil in a medium frypan over medium-high heat. Add the beef patties to the pan, season with salt and pepper, then cover and cook for 4 mins each side or until cooked through. Drain the oil from the pan. Add the sauce mixture and cook, turning, for 1-2 mins until the patties are glazed.
  4. Step 4 — Toast rolls
While the patties are cooking, cut the bread rolls in half. Put on an oven tray, cut-side up, and bake on the lower shelf for 4-5 mins until lightly toasted.
  5. Step 5 — Serve up
Spread the roll bases and tops with the burger sauce. Layer the bases with the salad leaves, beef patties and tomato, then sandwich with the tops. Serve with the fries and enjoy!
  6. Step 6 — Kitchen hack
Shaking the fries in a bowl with olive oil and seasoning ensures they are coated evenly.
